Plaquemine City is one of the city of Iberville Parish, Louisiana, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The city has a population of 7064 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 6751, It is the 81st most populous in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Its area is just over 2.92 square miles (7.56 kmē), of which, 2.86 square miles (7.41 kmē) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 kmē) of it is water, making it Louisiana's 203rd largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7064 people, 400 households, and 290 families residing in the city.
