Plankinton City, Aurora County, South Dakota is a city located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 601 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 569, It is 123rd most populous in South Dakota. It is spread over 0.65 mi˛ (1.68 sq km), giving it the 169th largest by total area among South Dakota.
