Placer County, California is a county located in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. Placer County had an official population of 248399 in 2000. In July 2008, its estimated population was 341945, making it California's 22nd largest county. It covers total area of 1502.78 square miles (3892.18 sq km), of which, 1404.37 square miles (3637.3 sq km) of it is land and 98.41 square miles (254.88 sq km) of it is water, it is the 31st largest by area in the U.S. state of California.
