Piute County, Utah is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. It is home to over 1435 people (2000 census). The July 2008 population estimate is 1404, giving it the second smallest population among Utah's county. The county comprises an area of 765.76 sq mi (1983.31 sq km), of which, 757.81 square miles (1962.72 sq km) of it is land and 7.95 square miles (20.59 sq km) of it is water, makes it the fifth smallest by total area in Utah.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1435 people, 509 households, and 390 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.9 people per square mile (0.73/kmē), it is Utah's seventh least densely populated county. There were 745 housing units at an average density of 1 per square mile (0.39/kmē). The average household size was 2.79 people, and the average family size was 3.25 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 30.7% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 19.7% from 25 to 44, 26% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.6 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 1404, The racial makeup of the county was 97.51% White, 0.14% Black or African American, 1.21% American Indian, 0.14% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 0.93% from two or more races.
