Pitkin County, Colorado is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 14872 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 15474, giving it the 30th largest population among Colorado's county. The county has a total area of 973.23 sq mi (2520.65 kmē), of which, 970.42 square miles (2513.38 kmē) of it is land and 2.81 square miles (7.28 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 20th smallest by total area in Colorado.
