It is 60th most populous in North Carolina. It has total area of 13.47 sq mi (34.89 square kilometre), of which, 13.42 square miles (34.76 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 61st largest by total area among North Carolina.
