Pine Ridge Cdp had an official population of 3171 in 2000. It is the 21st largest in terms of population. The census designated place has a total area of 3.15 sq mi (8.16 sq km), of which, 3.06 square miles (7.93 sq km) of it is land and 0.08 square miles (0.21 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 40th largest by total area in South Dakota. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in South Dakota.
