Pima County is one of the 15 county of Arizona, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 843746 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1012018, It is second most populous county in Arizona. The county has a total area of 9188.83 mi˛ (23798.96 square kilometre), of which, 9186.27 square miles (23792.33 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.57 square miles (6.66 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the sixth largest by size in Arizona.

As of the census of 2000, there were 843746 people, 332350 households, and 212092 families living in the county. The population density was 91.8 people per square mile (35.44/km˛), it is the second most populated county in terms of population density. There were 366737 housing units at an average density of 39.9 per square mile (15.41/km˛). The average household size was 2.47 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.6% under the age of 18, 10.9% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.7 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1012018, The racial makeup of the county was 891271 White, 37827 Black or African American, 36153 American Indian, 25828 Asian, 1639 Native Hawaiian, and 19300 from two or more races.
