Pike County is one of the 67 county of Pennsylvania, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 46302 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 59664, making it Pennsylvania's 42nd largest county. The county spans an area of 566.64 square miles (1467.59 kmē), of which, 546.81 square miles (1416.23 kmē) of it is land and 19.83 square miles (51.36 kmē) of it is water, making it the 40th largest by size in Pennsylvania. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Pennsylvania.

The population density was 84.7 people per square mile (32.7/kmē), it is 44th most densely populated county in Pennsylvania. There were 34681 housing units at an average density of 63.4 per square mile (24.48/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the county Age distribution was 26.7% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 100.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 102.8 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 59664, The racial makeup of the county was 54622 White, 3444 Black or African American, 129 American Indian, 783 Asian, 8 Native Hawaiian, and 678 from two or more races.
