Pierce County is one of the 39 county of Washington, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. In 2000, the population was 700820. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 785639, It is second most populous county in Washington. The county comprises an area of 1806.5 square miles (4678.81 sq km), of which, 1678.91 square miles (4348.36 sq km) of it is land and 127.58 square miles (330.43 sq km) of it is water, it is the 21st largest by area in the U.S. state of Washington.

As of the census of 2000, there were 700820 people, 260800 households, and 180199 families residing in the county. The population density was 417.4 people per square mile (161.16/kmē), it would be the fourth most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Washington. There were 277060 housing units at an average density of 165 per square mile (63.71/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.6 persons, and the average family size was 3.1 persons. In the county Age distribution was 27.2% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103.4 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 785639, The racial makeup of the county was 627101 White, 56975 Black or African American, 12308 American Indian, 45481 Asian, 7477 Native Hawaiian, and 36297 from two or more races.
