Pickett County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. Pickett County had an official population of 4945 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 4801, making it the least populous county in Tennessee. The county spans an area of 174.58 square miles (452.16 kmē), of which, 162.92 square miles (421.96 kmē) of it is land and 11.66 square miles (30.2 kmē) of it is water, giving it the third smallest by total area among Tennessee's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4945 residents, 2091 households, and 1461 families in the county. The population density was 30.4 people per square mile (11.74/kmē), it is the fifth least populated county in terms of population density. There were 2956 housing units at an average density of 18.1 per square mile (6.99/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.33 persons, and the average family size was 2.83 persons. In the county Age distribution was 21.4% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.2 males.
