The county comprises an area of 511.85 square miles (1325.69 kmē), of which, 496.89 square miles (1286.94 kmē) of it is land and 14.96 square miles (38.75 kmē) of it is water, it is the 14th smallest by area in the U.S. state of South Carolina.
