Pickaway County is a county located in Ohio, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. Pickaway County had an official population of 52727 in 2000. In July 2008, its estimated population was 54544, It is the 47th largest in terms of population. The county has a total area of 506.79 sq mi (1312.58 square kilometre), of which, 501.91 square miles (1299.94 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.88 square miles (12.64 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 32nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio.

The population density was 105.1 people per square mile (40.58/kmē), it is the 49th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Ohio. There were 18596 housing units at an average density of 37.1 per square mile (14.32/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.63 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 24.3% under the age of 18, 9% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 122.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 125 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 54544, The racial makeup of the county was 50526 White, 3074 Black or African American, 165 American Indian, 168 Asian, 13 Native Hawaiian, and 598 from two or more races.
