Picayune City is a one of the Pearl River County, Mississippi, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 10535 as per the Census data. The city comprises an area of 11.8 sq mi (30.56 kmē), of which, 11.76 square miles (30.46 kmē) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 kmē) of it is water, making it Mississippi's 48th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10535 residents, 4100 households, and 2867 families in the city.
