Phillips County is a county in the United States of Montana. The population of county in 2000 stood at 4601 as per the Census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 3904, It is 37th most populous county in Montana. It covers total area of 5212.17 square miles (13499.46 square kilometre), of which, 5139.57 square miles (13311.43 square kilometre) of it is land and 72.6 square miles (188.03 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the third largest by total area among Montana's county. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Montana.

The population density was 0.9 people per square mile (0.35/kmē), giving it the tenth least densely populated county among the Montana. There were 2502 housing units at an average density of 0.5 per square mile (0.19/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the county Age distribution was 27.3% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 3904, The racial makeup of the county was 87.96% White, 0.18% Black or African American, 9.02% American Indian, 0.23% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 2.59% from two or more races.
