Perry County, Tennessee is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 7631 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 7753, making it Tennessee's sixth smallest county. The county encompasses an area of 422.9 sq mi (1095.31 kmē ), of which, 414.89 square miles (1074.56 kmē) of it is land and 8 square miles (20.72 kmē) of it is water, it is the 57th largest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.


As of the census of 2000, there were 7631 people, 3023 households, and 2163 families residing in the county. The population density was 18.4 people per square mile (7.1/kmē), it is the least populated county in terms of population density. There were 4115 housing units at an average density of 9.9 per square mile (3.82/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 people, and the average family size was 2.96 people. In the county Population was distributed with 24.4% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 26.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.3 males.
