Perry County is a one of the county from Kentucky's 120 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 29390. The July 2008 population estimate is 29241, It is Kentucky's 36th most populous county. It covers total area of 342.64 mi˛ (887.43 sq km), of which, 342.15 square miles (886.16 sq km) of it is land and 0.49 square miles (1.27 sq km) of it is water, it is the 52nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Kentucky.

The population density was 85.9 people per square mile (33.17/km˛), it is Kentucky's 34th most densely populated county. There were 12741 housing units at an average density of 37.2 per square mile (14.36/km˛). The average household size was 2.53 people, and the average family size was 2.98 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.4% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.3 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 29241, The racial makeup of the county was 28314 White, 518 Black or African American, 17 American Indian, 192 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 196 from two or more races.
