Perry County, Indiana is a county of the United States of Indiana. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 18899 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 18929, making it the 18th least populous county in Indiana. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 386.34 square miles (1000.62 sq km), of which, 381.39 square miles (987.8 sq km) of it is land and 4.95 square miles (12.82 sq km) of it is water, making it the 58th largest by size in Indiana.

The population density was 49.6 people per square mile (19.15/kmē), giving it the 16th least densely populated county among the Indiana. There were 8223 housing units at an average density of 21.6 per square mile (8.34/kmē). The average household size was 2.45 people, and the average family size was 2.96 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 22.9% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 107 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107.7 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 18929, The racial makeup of the county was 18271 White, 469 Black or African American, 45 American Indian, 30 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 111 from two or more races.
