Perkins County is a county located in the United States of Nebraska. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 3200 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 2884, It is the 25th least populous county in the U.S. state of Nebraska. The county spans an area of 884.27 mi˛ (2290.25 square kilometre), of which, 883.18 square miles (2287.43 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.1 square miles (2.85 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 22nd largest by total area in Nebraska.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 3200 people, 1275 households, and 894 families residing in the county. The population density was 3.6 people per square mile (1.39/km˛), making its Nebraska's 22nd least densely populated county. There were 1444 housing units at an average density of 1.6 per square mile (0.62/km˛). The average household size was 2.47 people, and the average family size was 3.01 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 6% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 99.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.4 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 2884, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.86% White, 0.03% Black or African American, 0.35% American Indian, 0.17% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.59% from two or more races.
