Peoria County is a county in the United States of Illinois. The population of the county was 183433 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 183655, making it Illinois's 12th largest county. It has total area of 630.89 square miles (1634 square kilometre), of which, 619.52 square miles (1604.55 square kilometre) of it is land and 11.36 square miles (29.42 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 32nd largest by size in Illinois.

The population density was 296.1 people per square mile (114.32/kmē), it is the 11th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Illinois. The population's age distribution was 25.1% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 183655, The racial makeup of the county was 143747 White, 31162 Black or African American, 520 American Indian, 4664 Asian, 75 Native Hawaiian, and 3487 from two or more races.
