Pensacola City is one of the city of Escambia County, Florida, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 56255 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 53820, making it Florida's 43rd largest. The city encompasses an area of 39.65 sq mi (102.69 sq km ), of which, 22.7 square miles (58.79 sq km) of it is land and 16.96 square miles (43.93 sq km) of it is water, it is the 27th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida. It is ranks 12 in the size of its inland waterways in Florida.

The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 36514 White, 17203 Black or African American, 291 American Indian, 998 Asian, 35 Native Hawaiian, 908 from two or more races and 306 Ohter races.
