In 2000, census designated place's population was 726 inhabitants. making it Virginia's 92nd smallest. It is spread over 12.64 mi˛ (32.74 square kilometre), of which, 11.16 square miles (28.9 square kilometre ) of it is land and 1.48 square miles (3.83 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 43rd largest by area in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is ranks 15 in the size of its inland waterways in Virginia.
