Pembina County, North Dakota is a county of the United States of North Dakota. The population of the county was 8585 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 7419, It is North Dakota's 17th most populous county. The county comprises an area of 1121.74 sq mi (2905.29 sq km), of which, 1118.75 square miles (2897.55 sq km) of it is land and 2.99 square miles (7.74 sq km) of it is water, it is the 34th largest by area in the U.S. state of North Dakota.

In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.9% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.2 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 7419, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.65% White, 0.39% Black or African American, 2.01% American Indian, 0.27% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.68% from two or more races.
