Pelican Rapids City is a one of the Otter Tail County, Minnesota, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 2374 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2311, It is Minnesota's 215th largest by population . The city encompasses an area of 2.67 mi˛ (6.92 square kilometre ), of which, 2.62 square miles (6.79 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 254th largest by total area among Minnesota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2374 people in the city, organized into 884 households, and 559 families living in the city. The population density was 905.8 people per square mile (349.73/km˛), it would be the 330th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In the city the population was spread out, with 27.6% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 17.4% from 45 to 64, and 21.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.6 males. The median age is 36.5 years, the median age of male residents at 33.3 and the median age of female residents at 39.6. The racial makeup of the city was 78.43% White, 0.72% Black or African American, 0.93% American Indian, 3.58% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 3.54% from two or more races and 12.76% Other races.
