Pekin City is a city in the Tazewell County, Illinois, United States. The population of the city was 33857 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 33430, It is Illinois's 53rd largest by population . The city encompasses an area of 13.75 square miles (35.61 sq km ), of which, 13.15 square miles (34.06 sq km) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.55 sq km) of it is water, it is the 41st largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.
