Peabody City is one of the city of Essex County, Massachusetts, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. Peabody City had an official population of 48129 in 2000. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 51331, It is the 23rd most populous in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The city has a total area of 16.87 square miles (43.69 kmē), of which, 16.4 square miles (42.48 kmē) of it is land and 0.48 square miles (1.24 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 35th largest by total area in Massachusetts.
