Payson Town is a one of the Gila County, Arizona, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 13620. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 15486, It is the 42nd most populous in the U.S. state of Arizona. The town extends throughout a territory of 19.47 square miles (50.43 sq km ), making it Arizona's 79th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 13620 people, 5832 households, and 4068 families living in the town. The population density was 699.6 people per square mile (270.12/kmē), making its Arizona's 64th most densely populated town. There were 7033 housing units at an average density of 361.2 per square mile (139.46/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.3 persons, and the average family size was 2.71 persons. In the town the population was spread out, with 20.1% under the age of 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 19.3% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 29.2% who were 65 or older.
