Payson City is a United States city located in the Utah County, Utah, United States. As of 2000 the population was 12716. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 17429, giving it the 40th largest population among Utah. The city spans an area of 6.79 square miles (17.59 square kilometre), making it Utah's 107th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 12716 residents, 3654 households, and 3057 families in the city. The population density was 1871.8 people per square mile (722.71/kmē), it is Utah's 42nd most densely populated city. There were 3855 housing units at an average density of 567.7 per square mile (219.19/kmē). The average household size was 3.47 and the average family size was 3.87. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 38.3% under the age of 18, 12.8% from 18 to 24, 26% from 25 to 44, 14.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males. The median age was 24.4 years, the median age of male residents at 23.3 and the median age of female residents at 25.4. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 11956 White, 16 Black or African American, 49 American Indian, 48 Asian, 30 Native Hawaiian, 169 from two or more races and 448 Ohter races.
