Passaic City is a city located in the Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 67861 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 66884 in July 2008, It is the 11th largest in terms of population. It is spread over 3.21 sq mi (8.31 sq km), of which, 3.11 square miles (8.05 sq km ) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 179th largest by total area in New Jersey.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 67861 residents, 457 households, and 284 families in the city. The population density was 21804.7 people per square mile (8418.84/kmē), making it the seventh most densely populated city in New Jersey. There were 20194 housing units at an average density of 6493.2 per square mile (2507.04/kmē). The average household size was 3.46 people, and the average family size was 3.93 people. Age range in the city was well distributed with 30.8% under the age of 18, 12.5% from 18 to 24, 31.6% from 25 to 44, 16.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.4 males. The median age is 28.6 years, the median age of male residents at 27.6 and the median age of female residents at 29.8. The racial makeup of the city was 35.43% White, 13.83% Black or African American, 0.78% American Indian, 5.51% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 5.04% from two or more races and 39.36% Other races.
