Pasco County is a county located in the United States of Florida. It is home to over 344765 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 471028 in July 2008, making it Florida's 12th largest county. Its area is just over 867.95 square miles (2247.98 sq km), of which, 744.85 square miles (1929.15 sq km) of it is land and 123.1 square miles (318.83 sq km) of it is water, it is the 31st largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 344765 people, 147566 households, and 99073 families living in the county. The population density was 462.9 people per square mile (178.73/kmē), making its Florida's 12th most densely populated county. There were 173717 housing units at an average density of 233.2 per square mile (90.04/kmē). The average household size was 2.3 persons, and the average family size was 2.77 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 20.2% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 26.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.1 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 471028, The racial makeup of the county was 431471 White, 21858 Black or African American, 2077 American Indian, 9106 Asian, 175 Native Hawaiian, and 6341 from two or more races.
