Parkersburg City is a United States city located in the Wood County, West Virginia, United States. As of 2000 the population was 33099. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 31611, making it the third most populous in West Virginia. It covers total area of 12.21 mi˛ (31.62 square kilometre), of which, 11.82 square miles (30.61 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.39 square miles (1.01 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 13th largest by size in West Virginia. It is ranks 17 in the size of its inland waterways in West Virginia.

The population density was 2800.5 people per square mile (1081.28/km˛), it is the 17th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of West Virginia.
