Palm Beach County, Florida is a county of the United States of Florida. In 2000, county's population was 1131184 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1265293, giving it the third largest population among Florida's county. It covers total area of 2386.33 square miles (6180.57 sq km), of which, 1974.11 square miles (5112.92 sq km) of it is land and 412.22 square miles (1067.64 sq km) of it is water, it is the third largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Florida.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1131184 people, 474175 households, and 303772 families living in the county. The population density was 573 people per square mile (221.24/kmē), it is Florida's eighth most densely populated county. There were 556428 housing units at an average density of 281.9 per square mile (108.84/kmē). The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.89. In the county Age distribution was 21.3% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 27% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 23.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 106.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 110.6 females. Its population was estimated at 1265293 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 79.38% White, 16.48% Black or African American, 0.59% American Indian, 2.22% Asian, 0.12% Native Hawaiian, and 1.21% from two or more races.

The median income for a household in the county was $45062, it is the sixth highest county by median household income in the U.S. state of Florida. The median income for a family in the county was $53701, it is fifth wealthiest county by median family income in Florida. The per capita income for the county was $28801, making it the third wealthiest county by per capita income among the Florida.

In 2000, 254671 pupils and students, of which 49.83% are male and 50.17% are female, 22.51% of the total population, are in the education system. Of which, percentage of enrollment student are in, 8.11% nursery or pri school, 5.29% kindergarten, 44.82% elementary school, 22.12% high school and 19.66% College graduate school.
