Painesville City is a city located in the Lake County, Ohio, United States. As of 2000 the population was 17503. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 18474, making it the 99th most populous in Ohio. It has total area of 6.69 sq mi (17.33 square kilometre), of which, 5.98 square miles (15.49 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.71 square miles (1.84 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 154th largest by size in Ohio.
