According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Ouachita Parish is home to 147250 inhabitants. The parish's estimated population as of July 2008 was 150051, It is Louisiana's eighth most populous parish. Its area is just over 632.7 square miles (1638.69 kmē), of which, 610.53 square miles (1581.27 kmē) of it is land and 22.17 square miles (57.42 kmē) of it is water, making it the 43rd largest by size in Louisiana.

For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.5 males.
