Ottawa County is a county in the United States of Ohio. As of 2000 the population was 40985. Its population was estimated at 40823 in July 2008, It is 28th least populous county in Ohio. The county spans an area of 585.12 square miles (1515.45 sq km), of which, 254.95 square miles (660.32 sq km) of it is land and 330.17 square miles (855.14 sq km) of it is water, it is the 16th largest by area in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Ohio.

Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 40823, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.71% White, 0.99% Black or African American, 0.24% American Indian, 0.28% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 0.74% from two or more races.
