Ottawa County is a county in the United States of Michigan. As of 2000 the population was 238314. In July 2008, its estimated population was 260364, It is the eighth largest county by population in the U.S. state of Michigan. It covers total area of 1631.97 mi˛ (4226.78 sq km), of which, 565.65 square miles (1465.03 sq km) of it is land and 1066.32 square miles (2761.76 sq km) of it is water, making it the 17th largest by size in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 238314 people in the county, organized into 81662 households, and 61360 families residing in the county. The population density was 421.3 people per square mile (162.66/km˛), making its Michigan's ninth most densely populated county. There were 86856 housing units at an average density of 153.5 per square mile (59.27/km˛). The average household size was 2.81 persons, and the average family size was 3.25 persons. In the county Age distribution was 28.7% under the age of 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 29.3% from 25 to 44, 20% from 45 to 64, and 10.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 106.2 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 260364, The racial makeup of the county was 94.67% White, 1.47% Black or African American, 0.42% American Indian, 2.33% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.09% from two or more races.
