Otsego County is a one of the county from New York's 62 counties, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The county has a population of 61676 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 61962 in July 2008, making it the 20th least populous county in New York. The county encompasses an area of 1015.1 square miles (2629.1 square kilometre ), of which, 1002.8 square miles (2597.24 square kilometre) of it is land and 12.31 square miles (31.88 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 22nd largest by total area in New York.

The population density was 61.5 people per square mile (23.75/kmē), giving it the 12th least densely populated county among the New York. There were 28481 housing units at an average density of 28.4 per square mile (10.97/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.43 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 22.7% under the age of 18, 14.4% from 18 to 24, 24.3% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 61962, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.33% White, 2.29% Black or African American, 0.32% American Indian, 0.96% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.03% from two or more races.
