Otsego County is a county located in Michigan, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Otsego County is home to 23301 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 23808, It is Michigan's 23rd least populous county. It is spread over 525.98 square miles (1362.28 kmē), of which, 514.54 square miles (1332.65 kmē ) of it is land and 11.44 square miles (29.63 kmē) of it is water, makes it the fifth smallest by total area in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 23301 people in the county, organized into 8995 households, and 6539 families residing in the county. The population density was 45.3 people per square mile (17.49/kmē), giving it the 55th most densely populated county among the Michigan. There were 13375 housing units at an average density of 26 per square mile (10.04/kmē). The average household size was 2.56 people, and the average family size was 3 people. In the county Age distribution was 26.8% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 23808, The racial makeup of the county was 96.82% White, 0.58% Black or African American, 0.68% American Indian, 0.64% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.23% from two or more races.
