Oswego City is one of the city of Oswego County, New York, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The city has a population of 17954 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 17351 in July 2008, It is the 97th largest in terms of population. The city extends throughout a territory of 11.24 miē (29.11 kmē ), of which, 7.66 square miles (19.84 kmē) of it is land and 3.57 square miles (9.25 kmē) of it is water, it is the 47th largest by area in the U.S. state of New York. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in New York.

As of the census of 2000, there were 17954 residents, 7338 households, and 3975 families in the city. The population density was 2343.4 people per square mile (904.79/kmē), it would be the 350th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of New York.
