Osage County is a county located in Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 44437 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 45489, It is 19th most populous county in Oklahoma. Its area is just over 2303.8 mi˛ (5966.81 sq km), of which, 2250.8 square miles (5829.55 sq km) of it is land and 53 square miles (137.27 sq km) of it is water, makes it the largest by total area in Oklahoma. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 44437 residents, 16617 households, and 12214 families in the county. The population density was 19.7 people per square mile (7.61/km˛), making it the 44th most densely populated county in Oklahoma. There were 18826 housing units at an average density of 8.4 per square mile (3.24/km˛). The average household size was 2.58 people, and the average family size was 3.04 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.1 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 45489, The racial makeup of the county was 67.62% White, 10.77% Black or African American, 14.29% American Indian, 0.4% Asian, 0.08% Native Hawaiian, and 6.84% from two or more races.
