Orleans County is a one of the county from Vermont's 14 counties, located in Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 26277 as per the Census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 27189, It is the fourth least populous county in the U.S. state of Vermont. The county has a total area of 721.14 mi˛ (1867.74 square kilometre), of which, 697.7 square miles (1807.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 23.44 square miles (60.71 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the fifth largest by total area among Vermont's county. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Vermont.

The population density was 37.7 people per square mile (14.56/km˛), it is the second least populated county in terms of population density. There were 14673 housing units at an average density of 21 per square mile (8.11/km˛). The average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.1% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males. Its population was estimated at 27189 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 97.14% White, 0.45% Black or African American, 0.62% American Indian, 0.5% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 1.28% from two or more races.
