Orange County is one of the 14 county of Vermont, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Orange County is home to 28226 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 28917, It is the tenth largest in terms of population. It has total area of 691.74 sq mi (1791.6 square kilometre), of which, 688.56 square miles (1783.36 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.18 square miles (8.24 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the eighth largest by total area among Vermont's county.

The population density was 41 people per square mile (15.83/kmē), it would be the third least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Vermont. There were 13386 housing units at an average density of 19.4 per square mile (7.49/kmē). The average household size was 2.52 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 25.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 25.6% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 28917, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.78% White, 0.39% Black or African American, 0.29% American Indian, 0.55% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.95% from two or more races.
