Orange County is a one of the county from Indiana's 92 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 19306 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 19571, giving it the 19th smallest population among Indiana's county. It has total area of 408.2 miē (1057.23 kmē), of which, 399.52 square miles (1034.75 kmē) of it is land and 8.68 square miles (22.48 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 42nd largest by total area among Indiana's county. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Indiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 19306 residents, 7621 households, and 5340 families in the county. The population density was 48.3 people per square mile (18.65/kmē), making it the 14th least densely populated county in Indiana. There were 8348 housing units at an average density of 20.9 per square mile (8.07/kmē). The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.7% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 28% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 19571, The racial makeup of the county was 97.46% White, 0.95% Black or African American, 0.33% American Indian, 0.27% Asian, 0.22% Native Hawaiian, and 0.78% from two or more races.
