Orange County is a county located in California, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. Orange County had an official population of 2846289 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3010759, It is the second largest county by population in the U.S. state of California. It is spread over 947.98 sq mi (2455.26 sq km), of which, 789.4 square miles (2044.54 sq km ) of it is land and 158.57 square miles (410.69 sq km) of it is water, it is the 13th smallest in terms of geographical size.

There were 969484 housing units at an average density of 1228.1 per square mile (474.17/kmē). The average household size was 3 persons, and the average family size was 3.48 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 27% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 33.2% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 3010759, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 78.35% White, 1.97% Black or African American, 0.87% American Indian, 16.23% Asian, 0.37% Native Hawaiian, and 2.21% from two or more races.
