Onondaga County, New York is a county located in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 458336 people (2000 census). According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 452633, It is the 11th largest in terms of population. The county spans an area of 805.69 sq mi (2086.73 kmē), of which, 780.29 square miles (2020.94 kmē) of it is land and 25.4 square miles (65.79 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 32nd largest by total area among New York's county.

The population density was 587.4 people per square mile (226.8/kmē), giving it the 13th most densely populated county among the New York. In the county Age distribution was 25.8% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.7 males. Its population was estimated at 452633 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 380720 White, 46623 Black or African American, 4503 American Indian, 11259 Asian, 174 Native Hawaiian, and 9354 from two or more races.
