Oneida City is one of the city of Madison County, New York, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. Oneida City had an official population of 10987 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 10723, giving it the 171st largest population among New York. The city extends throughout a territory of 22.08 mi˛ (57.19 sq km ), of which, 22.03 square miles (57.06 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, making it the 13th largest by size in New York.

The population density was 498.7 people per square mile (192.55/km˛), giving it the 170th least densely populated city among the New York. There were 4672 housing units at an average density of 212.1 per square mile (81.89/km˛). The average household size was 2.4 people, and the average family size was 3.03 people. In the city the population was spread out, with 25.1% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 108.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 112.7 females.
