Olney City is a city located in Richland County, Illinois, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of the city was 8631 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 8407, making it Illinois's 225th largest. The city spans an area of 5.76 mi˛ (14.92 sq km), it is the 185th largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.
