Olmsted County is one of the 87 county of Minnesota, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 124277 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 141360, It is eighth most populous county in Minnesota. It has total area of 654.5 square miles (1695.15 kmē), of which, 653.01 square miles (1691.29 kmē) of it is land and 1.49 square miles (3.86 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 48th largest by total area among Minnesota's county.

The population density was 190.3 people per square mile (73.48/kmē), making it the eighth most densely populated county in Minnesota. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 27% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 141360, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 89.43% White, 3.86% Black or African American, 0.29% American Indian, 5.15% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.23% from two or more races.
