Oliver County is a one of the county from North Dakota's 53 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Oliver County is home to 2065 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1695, It is the fifth least populous county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The county extends throughout a territory of 731.19 mi˛ (1893.77 sq km ), of which, 723.52 square miles (1873.91 sq km) of it is land and 7.67 square miles (19.87 sq km) of it is water, making it the fifth smallest by size in North Dakota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2065 people in the county, organized into 791 households, and 604 families residing in the county. The population density was 2.9 people per square mile (1.12/km˛), it is 16th least densely populated county in North Dakota. There were 903 housing units at an average density of 1.2 per square mile (0.46/km˛). The average household size was 2.61 people, and the average family size was 3.05 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 27.4% under the age of 18, 4.7% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 30.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 107.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 106.2 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 1695, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 1644 White, 3 Black or African American, 29 American Indian, 2 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 17 from two or more races.
