Ohio is a state located in , in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 11353140. The July 2008 population estimate is 11485910, It is the seventh most populous in the U.S. state of America. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the state has a total area of 44824.9 mi˛ (116095.96 sq km), of which, 40948.38 square miles (106055.82 sq km) of it is land and 3876.53 square miles (10040.17 sq km) of it is water, making it United States's 34th largest by total area. It is ranks 14 in the size of its inland waterways in United States.

As of the census of 2000, there were 11353140 residents, 4445773 households, and 2993023 families in the state. The population density was 277.3 people per square mile (107.07/km˛), it is ninth most densely populated state in United States. There were 4783051 housing units at an average density of 116.8 per square mile (45.1/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.49 persons, and the average family size was 3.04 persons. In the Ohio, 25.4% of the population was under the age of 18, 9.3% were 18 to 24, 29.3% were 25 to 44, 22.7% were 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.1 males. The median age of the state's population was 36.2 years, the median age of male residents at 34.9 and the median age of female residents at 37.5. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 11353140, The racial or ethnic makeup of the state was 9645453 White, 1301307 Black or African American, 24486 American Indian, 132633 Asian, 2749 Native Hawaiian, 157885 from two or more races and 88627 Ohter races.
