In the Ohio, 25.4% of the population was under the age of 18, 9.3% were 18 to 24, 29.3% were 25 to 44, 22.7% were 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.1 males. The median age of the state's population was 36.2 years, the median age of male residents at 34.9 and the median age of female residents at 37.5. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 11353140, The racial or ethnic makeup of the state was 9645453 White, 1301307 Black or African American, 24486 American Indian, 132633 Asian, 2749 Native Hawaiian, 157885 from two or more races and 88627 Ohter races.
The median income for a household in the state was $40956, it is United States's 23rd wealthiest state by median household income. The median income for a family in the state was $50037, making it the 22nd wealthiest state by median family income among the United States. The per capita income for the state was $21003, it is 22nd wealthiest state by per capita income in United States. The median income of state was $23949, The median income for males was $30781 versus $18170 for females. According to the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis, the 2008 total gross domestic product was $471.5 billion, it is the eighth highest state by GDP in the U.S. state of America. Its GDP per capita is $33568. Ohio's GDP increased 1.9% from 2007.
In 2000, 3014460 pupils and students, of which 1508352 are male and 1506108 are female, 26.55% of the total population, are in the education system. Of which, total enrollment of student are in, 204086 nursery or pri school, 163537 kindergarten, 1349361 elementary school, 645083 high school and 652393 College graduate school.
